Intention

September 17, 2025 by Ali

Intention is very important if we want to do something in life and be successful, intention has a particular type of energy and is extremely powerful, it is different from simply trying to do something, it is more solid. So how can we use intention with sound to improve our well-being?

When we create sound, we create a frequency or even a combination of frequencies, these frequencies can have an effect on how we feel, etc. and therefore can have an effect on our well-being. However, if you study different systems, you find that people have different ideas about which sound or frequency should be used for a particular purpose. Of course this is logical, we are not “one size fits all”, each of us is unique and therefore we respond to various sounds/frequencies in different ways.

So how is it possible that all these differences lead to the same result, i.e. improved health? It may be the intention behind the sound that is important. Jonathan Goldman uses the equation: Frequency + Intent = Healing (healing here means creating something whole). Many spiritual traditions that use sound have also been using the same formula for years. It’s amazing how so much knowledge about how we can use sound for wellbeing has been buried over time.

Other formulas discussed by Jonathan Goldman are:

Vocalization + Visualization = Manifestation

Sound + Belief = Result

In all these formulas consciousness is encoded on sound waves.

It may seem complicated at first, but in reality if you think about how we communicate with our voice, we can influence the way people react to us simply by changing the tone of our voice, the same words can be said to someone with a different tone and cause a positive or negative outcome. So how we intend to use the words plus the frequency/tone we use, determine the outcome.

We can use these formulas when we use sound for our well-being. For example, simply playing a singing bowl near someone randomly can induce a state of relaxation and help relieve stress, this is always good, but it could do much more if the sound is encoded with intention or belief, by who is sounding the bowl and by whoever is listening to the tone.

There have been many studies on the placebo effect that show how the mind can influence the body and bring about changes, so we should use our mind in a positive way to empower ourselves and improve our well-being. We can do this by incorporating intent into the sounds we are creating.

I would also add desire to the equation, desire resides in the heart, adding feeling to the equations would make them even more powerful.

We must participate in our well-being and not simply put it in someone else’s hands.

We can desire, intend and believe.
